Bruce Jr. Ties Season-Best Result With Third-Place Run at Lake Ozark Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Aug. 20, 2018) – Tony Bruce Jr. scored his fifth podium finish of the season last Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway.

Bruce Jr. guided the Smith Family No. 86 sprint car from fifth to third place during both a heat race and the main event.

“It definitely helps to run well,” he said. “Everybody is confident and believe we can produce when it matters.

“I felt like we were really good and had a shot for the win because it got real tight in traffic with everybody, but as soon as we got into traffic there was a caution. Once that caution came out we got in a single-file line and that was about it. It felt good to run with the lead pack and have a chance at winning.”

The third-place finish tied his best result of the season, which he’s captured four other times.

The team also planned on racing Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., but the event was rained out.

Bruce Jr. will take this weekend off before resuming competition on Sept. 1-2 at Lake Ozark Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
