Bruce Jr. Produces Top-Five Result at Lake Ozark Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (April 23, 2019) – Tony Bruce Jr. posted his first top-five finish of the season last Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway.

Bruce Jr. was solid during his first race of the season behind the wheel of the Smith Family No. 86 as he maneuvered from sixth to third place during a heat race.

“We got a good start and I was able to get to third on the second lap,” he said. “I was able to go to the top or the bottom and pretty much do anything that I wanted. The track was pretty racy all night.”

The heat race run ranked Bruce Jr. fourth in overall points and lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“It’s always good to start strong,” he said. “We were lucky to have a good car from the word ‘go’ and we were solid all night. We had speed in the car all night.

“At one point we were in third and at one point I fell to sixth on a restart. We were really good before the first caution. I was underneath (Jonathan) Cornell for second. When the caution came out he was able to take my line on the restart. We were one dimensional on the bottom because I was a lot faster down there. We had a little too much stagger to roll the top. I made a mistake on a restart and had to climb back to third. Then at the end of the race I missed the bottom in turns one and two and fell to fourth. It was good to come out of there with a top five.”

The fourth-place finish was Bruce Jr.’s best in a sprint car in limited starts since last September.
