Hafertepe Battle Through Wing Issue For Runner-up Run At Lake Ozark Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – ELDON, Mo. (May 27, 2020) A riveting performance between Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Dominic Scelzi this past Sunday night at Lake Ozark Speedway with the ASCS Sooner and Warrior Regions went the way of Scelzi, but Hafertepe’s runner-up run was made very impressive when you learn that the wing slider failed half-way through the A-Feature.
Trailing Dominic the first 23 laps, the Hills Racing No. 15h took the point from lap 24 until the wing issue finally became too much during lapped traffic, allowing the No. 41 to retake the lead with 10 laps to run.
“That car was a handful,” stated Sam. “We were good until the hydraulic slider failed and let the wing slam back all the way and broke the pins in the wing stand. It finally pinned itself, but that was 37 degrees of wing angle so needless to say, she got a little tight.”
Looking to his next outing, Hafertepe will be back at Lake Ozark Speedway this Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30 with the World of Outlaw NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars.
“Even with the wing issue last weekend, we were happy to get some laps and try a few things before we take on the Outlaws this weekend. This show has been planned for our team for a long time, so we're going to make sure we are there. We have awesome support in Missouri with Heidbreder Foundation. They have been with me for years as one of our biggest sponsors, but more importantly, Ryan and Ashley are really good friends and have always helped me.”
Lake Ozark Speedway is located just outside Eldon, Mo. Both nights go green with Hot Laps at 6:00 P.M. (CT). Fans not able to attend can see everything live on http://www.dirtvision.com.
